In 1928 The Wahl Company, makers of Wahl-Eversharp Pens and pencils, introduced the Oversize Gold Seal Personal Point fountain pen which included new features: the interchangable Personal Point, the Gold Seal Lifetime guarantee and the Grecian Border Cap Band.  Over the years since, that Art Deco design element became the short name for these pens; THE DECOBAND. The Decoband was one of the most popular pens ever produced.  Following on the heels of the successful reintroduction of the Skyline Series, the new WAHL-EVERSHARP Pen Company introduced the revived DECOBAND in 2015. It became an instant classic nominated for 6 and winning 3 of the most prestigious pen awards.  Today the DECOBAND continues to evolve in form and function with new piston filling system and beautiful materials while maintaining its strong historical connection the golden era of fountain pens.

"We Are Writing History": The Evolution of Wahl-Eversharp

by OMAS Official on Oct 21 2024
Since 1913, Wahl-Eversharp has not only manufactured writing instruments but has also been an active part of history, transforming how the world writes. Their slogan, "We are writing history", reflects a legacy that has influenced generations of writers, designers, and visionaries. It all started with Charles Rood Keeran, whose 1915 patent for the first Eversharp mechanical pencil sparked a revolution in the writing world. The Eversharp pencil was an immediate success, with millions sold within just a few years. This success allowed the company to expand into fountain pen production, securing its place as a leader in the industry. Throughout the decades, Wahl-Eversharp has faced challenges and changes. From its merger with the Wahl Adding Machine Company to its revival in 2012 by Syd Saperstein and Emmanuel Caltagirone, the company has remained committed to innovation, always looking forward while staying connected to its roots. Today, their modern fountain pens, based on original designs, continue to be exceptional writing tools and iconic pieces that link the past to the present. At Wahl-Eversharp, "We are writing history" is more than just a slogan—it's a reality that keeps evolving with every stroke.
